Would you like to observe birds near Quito’s Historic Center?

Would you like to learn how humans interacted with animals and birds during pre-Colombian times?

Birdwatching Near Historic Quito

The Motmot Naturalist Club together with Proyecto Wasi invites you to join us on a hike of the La Chorrera Trail in the Toctiuco sector of Quito. Residents have conserved the small canyon as well as its plants and animals. We will meet and travel by bus, take our hike, return by bus to the Plaza del Teatro. From there we will walk to the Museo Casa del Alabado near the San Francisco Church. There we will visit the museum and learn about Animals and the Pre-Colombian World.

During this day trip, we will reflect on the human-animal connection by first observing birds in their natural habitat and later, in the museum, contemplating on the ability of ancient humans to create a relationship with nature that has lasted through the ages.
