Holy Thursday in Historic Quito
Come join us for Holy Thursday in Historic Quito.
Our small group will meet at 1:00pm in the historic neighborhood of La Ronda where we will enjoy a traditional Fanesca Lunch [soup of 12 grains, molo (dish made of potatoes), and higos y queso (candied figs with fresh cheese)].
After lunch, we will visit the Iglesia Santa Domingo for a guided tour. Then we will stroll the cobbled streets of Quito stopping at various churches that will be open especially for the Recorrido de las Siete Iglesias.
In the early evening, we will end our church stroll at the Plaza de la Independencia. We will have a small snack and wait for the Candlelight Procession to pass by. Then we will walk back to La Ronda and watch the Candlelight Procession enter the neighborhood via the narrow cobblestone street that passes directly under our viewing spot.
